Opequon Church is a community of faith that seeks to live our our mission by “prayerfully equipping disciples of all generations to be Christ’s hands, heart and feet in the world.” While we are a historic church, founded in 1732, we are also a thriving, active congregation that God continues to breathe new life into, even in today’s complex world.
God’s word for us in Scripture is the center of our gatherings for worship, study, fellowship and prayer. We believe in the call to be a church of all generations growing in our faith together, young and old. We take the call of discipleship seriously by actively engaging in local and global mission and outreach.
We are a welcoming, friendly congregation and we invite you to join the Opequon family!
Ask anyone who walks in the doors to meet the Opequon Church Family and they will tell you that we are a truly welcoming and friendly community of faith. We seek to embody the love of Christ who welcomes all people, strangers and friends, and we hope that is what you experience when you join us for worship, fellowship, study or service. Come be our guest!
Jesus calls us to a life of discipleship. We hope that this space connects us with some of the information and resources that equip us all to be faithful participants in the life of this Church and the body of Christ, so that we might all be more prepared to follow Christ’s call to go out and make disciples of others.
The body of Christ is made up of God’s people of all generations. We seek to be in ministry with people in all ages and stages of life, while also value the many ways we can all learn and grow in our faith together across generations.
We believe that God calls all believers into the holy priesthood, to serve in ministry with one another. We are called to do the hands-on work of Christ through our various ministry teams. We share God’s love through our work in Administration, Congregational Care, Christian Education, Evangelism, Fellowship, Mission, Technology & Communications and Worship.
We are a genuine, caring church. Our love for our neighbor is lead by the work of our Deacons and their ministry of Congregational Care, a ministry which inspires a spirit of love and care that permeates throughout the Opequon Church Family. We celebrate together in times of joy and support one another in times of sorrow.
We take seriously the call to reach out into God’s world and to do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with our God.
